Hardscape Care in Saratoga Springs
We clean driveways, walkways, patios and steps with controlled, even pressure and the right detergents for each material. The goal is a clean surface that lasts longer, not a quick blast that etches concrete or strips the sand from your pavers.

Cleaning That Treats Hard Surfaces as Something to Keep
Concrete, pavers and natural stone wear slowly when they are cared for and quickly when they are not. Dirt holds moisture against the surface. Moss and algae root into the pores. Winter leaves behind salt residue that keeps working on concrete long after the snow is gone. Regular cleaning removes what is causing the wear, so the material underneath holds up.
We use a rotary cleaner rather than a narrow wand for flat areas. It spreads the pressure across a wide path, which gives an even finish without stripes and keeps the water from digging into soft spots. Edges, steps and corners get detailed by hand.
Clean hardscape also makes the rest of your home exterior look finished. Steps and walkways read especially well at night under permanent lighting along the roofline, and we are happy to talk through both on the same call.
What Our Hardscape Care Covers
Material check before we start
We look at what each surface is made of and how it is aging. Brushed concrete, stamped concrete, pavers and bluestone each tolerate a different approach, and we set our pressure and detergent to match.
Pre-treatment for organic growth
Moss, algae and lichen get a pre-treatment that loosens them at the root. This lets us clean at lower pressure and slows regrowth.
Even, stripe-free cleaning of flat areas
Driveways, walkways and patios are cleaned with a rotary cleaner in overlapping passes for a uniform finish.
Hand detailing of edges and steps
Stair treads, risers, curbs and the borders along your lawn and beds are cleaned by hand so nothing is left with a dark outline.
Rinse and cleanup
We rinse loosened debris off the surface and away from doorways, garage thresholds and plantings, and leave the area tidy.
Honest notes on condition
If we find spalling, wide cracks or pavers that have lost their joint sand, we point them out and show you photos. You decide what, if anything, to do next.
Signs Your Driveway or Patio Is Due
Green or black patches in shade
Moss and algae grow where surfaces stay damp, often along the north side of the house or under trees. Besides looking tired, they make walkways slippery.
White, chalky residue after winter
That film is often left over from deicing salt. Clearing it off in spring helps reduce the ongoing damage it can do to concrete.
Weeds and growth in paver joints
Plants in the joints push pavers apart over time. Clearing them out early protects the base and the pattern.
Dark traffic lanes
Tire paths and foot traffic leave gray bands that ordinary rain will not remove.
Surfaces that stay wet longer than they used to
Built-up grime holds water. A clean surface dries faster, which matters through freeze and thaw.
How a Hardscape Visit Runs
- 1
A quick call and a free quote
You tell us which surfaces need attention and roughly how large they are. We give you a quote by phone and set a date that suits you.
- 2
Walkthrough and protection
On arrival we walk the areas with you if you are home, note any trouble spots and move or cover nearby items. Doors and low windows near the work get extra care.
- 3
Pre-treat, clean and detail
Growth is pre-treated first, then flat areas are cleaned with the rotary cleaner and edges are finished by hand.
- 4
Final rinse and review
We rinse the surfaces and surrounding areas, check the finish in good light and walk it with you. Surfaces are usually ready to walk on shortly after, once they dry.
What Affects the Price
Every quote comes from the actual surfaces at your property. We explain what is driving the number so you know exactly what you are paying for. There are no add-ons sprung on you at the end.
- Square footage
- A single walkway and a long double driveway are very different jobs. Total area is the biggest factor.
- Surface material
- Pavers and natural stone need more careful, slower work than broom-finished concrete, and joints add detailing time.
- Amount of buildup
- Heavy moss, years of grime or deep staining take more pre-treatment and more passes than a surface cleaned regularly.
- Steps, edges and access
- Stairs, tight corners and areas crowded with plantings or furniture take hand work. Water access close to the work also matters.
Hardscape Care Questions
Something not covered here? (518) 757-9353
Will cleaning damage my concrete or pavers?
Not when it is done with the right pressure and equipment. Damage usually comes from a narrow, high-pressure wand held too close. We use a wide rotary cleaner and adjust for each material, which is gentler and more even.
How often should I have it done?
Most surfaces do well with a cleaning once a year. Shady areas that grow moss quickly may benefit from more frequent visits. Spring is a popular time because it clears away winter salt and grime.
Can you remove oil stains or rust?
We can usually lighten them considerably, and fresh stains respond better than old ones. Some stains have soaked deep into the concrete, so we tell you honestly what to expect before we start.
Is the runoff safe for my lawn and gardens?
We choose detergents suited to residential use, pre-wet nearby plantings and rinse them after. Rinse water is directed away from beds where possible.
Do I need to be home?
No. As long as we can reach the surfaces and an outdoor spigot, we can work while you are out. We let you know when we finish.
Should I seal the surface afterward?
Sealing can help some concrete and pavers resist staining and moisture. A surface has to be clean and fully dry first, so cleaning is the right first step either way. We can tell you whether your surfaces look like good candidates.
